IT seems that justice did indeed prevail when the hit and run driver who struck and killed a woman on Wednesday, September 25 was caught, and arrested later that very same day.
According to Vanessa, an eyewitness, the man almost drove into her car at the Market and East Street intersection.
“I was travelling down Market Street and got to the four-way stop first. As I was turning right into East Street, this black vehicle sped in and almost collided with me,” said a still shaken Vanessa.
The woman, who was hit, is said to have been standing on the side of the road waiting to cross when the speeding vehicle struck her and sped off without stopping.
Paramedics were called but they failed to resuscitate the woman and she died on scene.
The driver of the vehicle was caught later along Melmoth road and arrested.
