Four people were arrested for assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm

Over a 24-hour period, Ezakheni police arrested eight people during police activities aimed at addressing assault and stock theft in the area.

During these operations, four people were arrested for assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm in the Waaihoek area on  Tuesday. During the incident, an 18-year-old woman was at home when she was attacked by four other women. The group assaulted her with a wooden stick and a sjambok. The suspects (aged 16, 19, 22 and 23) are set to appear in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court today on the charges of assault.

One arrest was made for driving while under the influence of liquor and three for stock theft. The Ladysmith Stock Theft Unit is currently investigating the case and the three suspects, who were found in the Ezakheni area in possession of suspected stolen goats, are aged 19, 20 and 26.
