Almost 150 arrests in a week

A staggering 68 arrests were made for cases such as drunkenness and drinking in public

Ladysmith and Ezakheni police made 144 arrests during the past week.
These included arrests for murder, rape, robbery, housebreaking, assault, drug-related cases, drunken driving, possession of an unlicensed firearm and stock theft.

The following items were seized or recovered: dagga, mandrax, heroin, firearms, knives, ammunition, tools, cash, cell-phones, liquor, blankets, building material, CDs and DVDs, copper wire, cosmetics, electrical appliances and a motor vehicle.

These police activities are aimed at addressing contact crimes (murder, rape, robbery and assault), trio crimes (hijacking, business and house robberies) and property crimes (housebreaking, motor vehicle theft and stock theft).
