Robbery suspects are behind bars after sterling work by local cops.
The Ladysmith Cluster Trio Crime Task Team, Ladysmith Detective Services, Ladysmith K9 Unit and Ladysmith Crime Intelligence & Protection Services (CIPS) recently cracked a house robbery case wide open.
On Monday afternoon last week, a man attracted the attention of a Ladysmith resident at her premises in Surat Road and asked permission to retrieve a soccer ball he said he had kicked into her yard. The woman returned the ball, but as she entered her house, she was confronted by three men who were already inside. She was tied up and locked in a room while the men ransacked the house. Various items were stolen, including jewellery, a cell-phone and a decoder.
On the same day, two suspects (aged 20 and 27) were arrested by detectives in connection with the incident. On Wednesday night, another two suspects (aged 22 and 23) were arrested in a vacant house close to the woman’s home. Police recovered a decoder, a cell-phone, jewellery and personal items taken during the robbery.
The four suspects are set to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court soon.
