Community members at Papkuilsfontein are still shaken after news that a ten-year-old was raped.
A minor was allegedly raped and stabbed on Friday, November 29.
According to the child’s grandmother, the suspected rapist was from Glencoe and is a close family friend. He allegedly asked her granddaughter to bring him water to his shack.
This is when the alleged rape took place.
After a while the man and a girl were seen exiting the shack, the man then stopped a taxi and left. The girl was severely injured and was admitted to hospital for stab wounds.
She was stabbed on her arms and hands while she was allegedly trying to defend herself from the man. The bed inside the man’s shack was soaked in blood and the belongings were strewn everywhere.
“I could not believe it when I heard the news because I trusted that man. I took him in and I am the one who found the shack for him since he is helping me to build my house. While he was doing whatever he was doing to my granddaughter, he told her to keep quiet or she will die,” explained the grandmother.
Community members discovered an Identity Document in the man’s shack, which stated that he is from the Ezakheni area.
Angry residents gathered and waited hoping this man will return but according to the child’s grandmother, he has vanished. Police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela did not respond to an inquiry regarding this tragic incident.
