Decomposing body of woman found

Dannhauser is the scene of yet another case of violence against the elderly.

An 85-year-old woman was found in her home, allegedly raped and murdered. The cause of death was not apparent and police services are yet to determine cause of death following a post mortem.

The elderly victim was found by her granddaughter on December 1, in the late afternoon. The victim’s body was found, decomposing, in her home on Shepstone Lake Farm.

It is alleged that the deceased was living alone.

This incident comes on the heels of a similar incident, where a 68-year old was also allegedly raped and murdered, along with her niece of 11 years.

“As yet we have not been able to find a link between the two incidents. However, we have not ruled out the possibility, and a full investigation will continue,” said Const Msanasuthi Nyembe of the Dannhauser SAPS.

The past months have seen three brutal attacks in the community, and so far investigations have yielded little information.
