Deputy Mayor Bhekithemba Abel Dlamini was removed from office after a vote of no confidence was passed against him at a council meeting on Thursday, November 28.

Umtshezi Municipality Mayor Bongani Dlamini said that the deputy mayor was not effectively executing his duties to promote service delivery, he added that there were also too many “incidents” in Mr BA Dlamini’s ward, Ward Two.

“I call on council to support this decision in the interests of service delivery. The process of replacing him will unfold,” he commented.

Before supporting the decision, Councillor Mthembeni Majola asked what would happen to the deputy mayor’s office, bodyguards and personal assistant?

“Since there is no one there, the benefits will be recalled until there is a replacement. The administration will be dealt with by management,” responded Mr BD Dlamini. The councillors supported the motion.
