Lighting up the night sky

Great fun was had - and the sense of achievement when the lanterns lifted into the night sky was palpable.

In one of the best supported events of 2013, young and old from all communities gathered at the Dundee airfield on Wednesday evening for the town’s first mass Chinese lantern lighting event.

Hosted by the Abundant Life Group of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the delightful gathering was much enjoyed by all who did not seem to mind struggling with the Chinese-English instructions printed on the lanterns or the drizzle that fell.

There was also carol singing and a short message from visiting Pastor, Michael, of Michigan, USA.  He reminded those gathered there that Jesus was born in a stable on Christmas Day and not in a palace – such is the humbleness of the Lord.

Great fun was had – and the sense of achievement when the lanterns lifted into the night sky was palpable.
