Klipfontein Dam: what are you paying for?

IT’S SUMMER, it’s the holiday season, the schools are out, the contractors have closed, it’s fishing time, braai time, swimming time, it’s dam time. Yes, it’s damn time that the municipality did something about the facilities that people are made to pay for at the gate of Klipfontein Dam. For months there has been no water (and no flushing toilets) at the ablution blocks at Klipfontein Dam. The the AbaQulusi Residents Association (ARA) got involved; that was months ago and ARA Chairman Jan Combrinck actually took the head of Community Services to the dam for an in loco inspection. He was promised action. There has been no action. A regular visitor to the dam reported on Tuesday this week that there was no water (and no flushing toilets) in any of the three ablution blocks, and it’s a week to Christmas Eve. When phoned on Tuesday morning this week, the head of Community Services was in a meeting and unavailable. So, what are you paying for if you go to Klipfontein Dam? Nothing. Why pay?
