Armed robbers strike in CBD

It is believed that the suspect pretended to be purchasing clothes when he drew a firearm and held staff up at gunpoint

Armed robbers struck twice last week.
Fleeing with money and goods.
In the first instance, a local doctor was robbed at gunpoint in his surgery.
Police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela explained that a male visited the surgery under the pretence of being treated.
“When he was asked to pay, he told the doctor that the money was with the other male who was waiting outside in the consulting room. He was asked to call the other person to bring the money. The second person came inside and pointed a firearm at the doctor, demanding money,” commented Captain Sokhela.
The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The second incident took place at clothing retailer, Foschini on Sunday morning.
It is believed that the suspect pretended to be purchasing clothes when he drew a firearm and held staff up at gunpoint.
“An undisclosed amount of cash and clothing was stolen during the robbery. The suspect is unknown at this stage, however police are working on the case,” said the captain.
A reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
