THE Vryheid SAPS took the initiative to show that they will be dealing firmly with crime this year by hosting the very first Crime Awareness Campaign at the Lakeside Sports Grounds.

The community members at Lakeside came together with the local SAPS in the morning of Friday, January 10, to take part in a march around the area aimed at raising awareness and also showing that they, as a community were uniting in the fight against crime.

The community gathered at the sports grounds where common crime issues were discussed and they were told how they could prevent such crimes from spreading.

Crimes such as rape, housebreaking, domestic violence, stock theft and assault were among the major crime issues that the SAPS have received reports on regularly in the past year from the Lakeside community.
