Police make large dagga haul

Ezakheni police arrested three suspects and made a large dagga haul after spotting a suspicious-looking vehicle near St Chad’s.

Officers were patrolling along the Helpmekaar Road on Friday, January 17, at about 9pm when they spotted a Toyota Corolla with three occupants near the St Chad’s area.

The vehicle was stopped and a search turned up 36 bags of dagga inside the car. The bags weighed between 1kg and 2kg each, with an estimated street value of R55,000.

The three occupants – aged 18, 27 and 29 – were arrested and appeared briefly in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 20.
