One person was arrested after police happened upon a dagga plantation in the Thunzini area on Sunday morning.
Upper Tugela Borderline Control officers were conducting crime prevention operations in the Emmaus area of Bergville and were passing through the Thunzini area when they noticed a dagga plantation growing alongside a dwelling.
The plantation is estimated to yield approximately two tons of dagga which, when dried, will be valued at about R500,000.
One suspect, aged 44, was arrested and has been charged with cultivating dagga. She appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
