A 19-year-old pupil has been arrested for the possession of dangerous weapons on February 16.

It is alleged that the suspect was in a fight with an 18-year-old. “The suspect went back to his house, got a panga and then returned to the victim where a fight broke out,” said Captain Shooz Magudulela. Off-duty police officers intervened and an arrest was made. The suspect is expected to appear in Madadeni Magistrate’s Court soon.

The police are warning the public about the new Dangerous Weapons Act 15 of 2013 that was implemented this year on February 1. Possession of knives, pangas, assegais and other weapons that can cause bodily harm will lead to arrest.
