Full-time security and mobile toilets are the latest developments at the contentious Amanath Centre park.
A security hut was placed at the park this past week, to safeguard the equipment from any form of misuse, while the mobile toilet will provide relief from the plague of public urination as reported by residents.
Ward councillor, Matthew Shunmugam described these as enforcing strict control over the park.
Warning that any abuses or transgressions from residents would not be tolerated, he also requested adults not to use play equipment intended for use by children.
“I had a discussion with the group who play volleyball and they assured us they will abide by the conditions regarding the usage of the facilities. They were very obliging.”
The news was first broken on Cllr Shunmugam’s Facebook page, sparking positive response from residents.
In turn, this follows onto last week’s article regarding the misuse of the park.
Among concerns listed by residents, were that adults were abusing the water fountain by washing their feet there, public urination and an overall lack of security.
Through the commitment from the municipality, it is hoped these will be rooted out.
