What would have been a romantic time together, turned into tragedy for a Rosedale man on Saturday, March 1.
According to a police report the man received a call from his girlfriend at about 7.30pm, informing him that she was on her way to visit.
“The man went to the bus stop to meet his girlfriend and when he was close by, he heard his girlfriend calling for help.
A few minutes later he heard a gunshot.
He went back to his house as he was afraid for his life,” explained police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela.
When the man ventured out in the morning to investigate, he found his girlfriend had been killed. She sustained one gunshot wound to her head.
“It is suspected that the motive for this incident was to rob the deceased.
No arrests have been made at this stage,” added captain Sokhela.
Police are requesting anyone with information that can lead to the arrest and successful conviction to contact the Estcourt Detectives Branch Commander on 036 342 9514 or the Station Commander on 082 4175 235.
A reward will be issued for positive information.
