Last week, the Advertiser posted a photo of the uncovered manhole on Allen Street, close to a busy pedestrian walkway.
Feedback received from the community suggested it was not an isolated case. Here is what our readers had to say:
Bernice Clark: There are too many, been brought to the municipality’s attention but falls on deaf ears. Waterbuck Avenue is a good example.
Trevor Wolverson: Imagine this was a clue in Die lekker resies, people would still be driving around
Terina Potgieter: Ha ha…dont vote untill it is covered
Bhekisisa Mavuso: Lets vote d ruling party n we’ll c more of dis, Dats wat dey hv delivered 2 us….man eating holes everywhere
Cyril Mkhonza Ndaba: Allen street between Ferrum intersection and Farmers Hall. It was open then they tried to closed it with same block like the one next to it,then someone took the block out.
Terina Potgieter: Somebody should do something about this….off road bikers and pedestrians put their lives at risk!
Sbongumusa Nxumalo: Use to be on my way home from school, so I’m pretty sure its Allen Street between Barry Hertzog Park and Pioneer Park.
Garrith Cronje: Ideal hiding place for criminals at nite, police will never look in there…
Marie Jonker: Don’t know where it is, but. No need to tell me of the danger….a few years back I fell into one and dislocated my shoulder….very painful
Wendy Burckard Calitz: Been like that for a LONG time!!
Have you seen any hazardous obstacles on your daily commute? Email a photo along with the location to newed2@caxton.co.za, and we will publish these photos on our website along with feedback from the municipality.
