According to Thulani Ndlovu, the Project Management Unit Manager, Jenkyn Street was earmarked for rehabilitation to prevent further damages, which would lead to increased rehabilitation costs.
R2-million has been allocated for the project during the 2014/2015 financial year, for structural integrity and re-design.
“All procurement processes should be completed by the end of September and construction could then commence by the beginning of October 2014,” said Mr Ndlovu.
While motorists can look forward to an improved road and traffic flow, there will be an inconvenience for motorists.
Mr Ndlovu explained that during the construction, there would only be one lane open for motorists and the project would take up to five months to complete.
