Money is being wastefully spent at the cemetery in Alexandra Street.
This is the view of an Estcourt resident who says that the municipality should rather repair the huge potholes at the bottom of Outspan Road.
“Firstly about R70 000 was spent on the installation of a crash barrier, preventing the trucks making U-turns.
Now these trucks make U-turns at the intersection of the roads.
Secondly a small section of the road to the graveyard is being tarred.
The cost should be about R130 000,” he says.
The resident has also conveyed his concerns about health and safety specifications undertaken at a ‘trenching project’ in Broomcliff Road.
These and other concerns were relayed to Umtshezi Municipal manager Nonhlanhla Njoko, a response is expected in next week’s edition.
