Three independent road rehabilitation projects are scheduled from now until June this year.
To keep residents in the loop on possible congestion and detouring in this regard, representatives from Royal HaskoningDHV (RHDHV), an engineering and consulting firm, contacted this newspaper on Tuesday morning.
RHDHV requested motorists and pedestrians exercise caution when travelling in these areas.
Hathorn Street
At the intersection with Panorama Drive, RHDHV said construction on the upgrade of the stormwater drainage system along Hathorn Street was currently under way.
As part of this project, piping across Panorama Drive will also be installed.
RHDHV’s local branch head, André Strauss explained the project required the road be closed in half widths, to allow for the completion of the construction works.
In addition, a temporary detour to the Weir had been constructed off Cinnamon Street.
Murchison Street
Between the intersections with St Dominic Street and Hill Street, work has begun to widen and rehabilitate Murchison Street, a project forecast to be complete in August this year.
The road will be narrowed during the construction phase.
RHDHV advised motorists and pedestrians to use alternate routes during this time, unless they were property owners residing on the area under rehabilitation.
Hospital Street
Owing to ongoing stormwater upgrades of Hospital Street and the upgrade of the street’s crossing with Link Road, RHDHV required both roads be closed in half widths for the duration of the project.
This will take place throughout May this year.
