The NFP has called for an investigation into the ‘racist e-mail’. Deputy Mayor T Mkhize also called for an investigation into the acting Municipal Manager, whom he alleged was implicated in impropriety at his previous place
of employment, Umdoni Municipality.
“If both allegations are true this affects our trust. A motion has been submitted to Council to
investigate these issues.”
The IFP’s Councillor W Mbatha said news that the ‘racist letter’ is a conspiracy is a ‘massive
cover-up’. “There are allegations of money being exchanged for promotions. We are aware
of secret meetings between the Speaker and the alleged writer just before he was appointed.
People with dirty hands are running scared.
“We believe there is no smoke without fire. We support the initiative to bring in the SAPS’s
Commercial Crime Unit to investigate.
“And we also want to know why Advocate Brijraj has a comfortable offi ce at Uminzyathi.
He absents himself then comes back in time for payday. Although we are only two IFP
Councillors we will work tirelessly to hold a corrupt ANC to account.”
