As evening dawns, Railway Street is blanketed in darkness and has been for several weeks.
The streetlights in this street have not been operational and a resident from the street says that safety is compromised.
Mr Ghasitha says that the street is pitch dark.
“You can’t even see your hand if you hold it up in front of you,” he explains, adding that this would be an ideal environment for criminals.
Although Mr Ghasitha said that he had reported this to the municipality, Municipal Manager Nonhlanhla Njoko said that no complaint was reported in Railway Street.
Last Monday, Ms Njoko said that electricians would be sent out to check and repair the streetlights however, a week later and Railway Street is still in darkness.
No further correspondence was received from the municipality when asked for feedback.
