Cop van ploughs through coffee shop veranda
Early morning coffee customer came, crashed and left behind a trail of destruction
A police van ploughed through the veranda of the popular Guinea Fowl Coffee Shop early on Saturday morning. Several parking meters and pillars came tumbling down as the Nissan double cab went into destruction mode.
The veranda roof came tumbling down. The policeman, who has not been identified, suffered minor cuts. He was taken to hospital. Police said he was either chasing another vehicle, swerved to avoid another car and may have blacked out.
Coffee shop owner FC Bester is furious and wants a transparent investigation into the crash.
