No snow but accident slows traffic
The vehicle, carrying class 3 flammable goods, is slowly being made safe - the process will take up to four hours
There is definitely a chill in the air this morning (Friday), and many residents are bundled up in coats and scarves.
Although there is no snow in Ladysmith itself, snow has fallen in Boston, Balgowan, Curry’s Post and Mooi River.
Snow was predicted for Van Reenen, but has not yet fallen. In the early hours of this morning, sleet (a mixture of rain and ice) was reported to be falling in Van Reenen.
That said, it is going to be a bitterly cold weekend for Ladysmithonians.
Truck blocks N3
Ironically, it wasn’t the predicted snow but rather a truck accident that blocked the N3 at Van Reenen this morning. There is currently a ‘southbound contraflow system’ in place to allow traffic to pass the site.
