Severely frustrated by an ever-increasing amount of rubbish, Razia Cassim is desperate for action from the municipality.

Running a business in Gutenberg Street, Mrs Cassim shares the business premises with two other businesses, whose plight was higlighted in the Newcastle Sun of April 25.

Insalubrious conditions involving fruit flies and maggots, make work in the area most unpleasant, to be quite euphemistic.

More than a month later, the rubbish has still not been collected by the municipality.

“The landlord will be making a plan to remove the rubbish. I just want to know why we have to pay private people to remove the rubbish when we are already paying the municipality to remove it” said Mrs Cassim.

The municipality was contacted for comment, but Zandile Masondo from the communication’s department was unable to at the time of going to press.
