Unserviced ambulances with over 200,000km on the clock
Many of the vehicles are unlicensed, some have over 200 000km's on the clock and are late for service.
Speaking out on condition of anonymity, several KZN EMRS staff have complained about the state of the ambulances they are forced to drive.

The ambulances that are working are being operated 24/7. They also stress that it is not just Ladysmith and Estcourt that are affected, but Ezakheni and Bergville as well. Ambulance staff confirmed that Sharaj Ambulance Services have been a major help to them during this time.
At the time of going to press, KZN EMRS were unable to add to their original comment and declined to comment further.
One observer following the story on the Ladysmith Gazette Facebook site had this to say: Ambulances also pick up staff at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital and drop them at the taxi rank near Boxer.
