The Ntabamhlophe Circuit Principals Forum held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Mathamo Primary School recently.
The Chairperson of the Audit Committee at the Imbabazane Local Municipality, Jomo Sibisi, who was guest speaker, informed the room of the plans that were underway for the cultural development in Ntabamhlophe.
These plans are of two projects – the Ntabamhlophe Heritage Village and Boys Choir, which will have a host of traditional and cultural entertainment, nature conservation and trails, as well as accommodation for overnight guests.
The second project is the Ntabamhlophe Museum, which will display exhibitions of all the art commuters and children produce, plus educating locals and tourists about the history of the area and upkeep Ntabamhlophe’s heritage and cultural legacy.
Mr Sibisi went on to say that this would encourage children to broaden their knowledge and strengthen their talents.
He further shared his pain at seeing school dropouts, thus urged the educators to reflect and make a change.
“I am pained by the rate children drop out from school, when you go back to school today, look at the child you’re educating and ask yourself what you’d do if it were your own,” shared Mr Sibisi.
Adding onto the narrative imparted by Mr Sibisi, Ntabamhlophe Circuit Manager Vincent “V.T” Nkabinde, said that as managers and leaders of the forum and the schools in the area, they needed to see beyond the call of management and be involved in community affairs for the betterment of lives.
“In as much as we’re managing schools, let us penetrate the community so to be in the know of what’s going on, let’s look beyond the role of management affairs and see where we can bring about change,” added Mr Nkabinde.
Having raised money to compensate families for the loss of learners and staff members, as well as offer tokens of appreciation to colleagues who retire – the forum aims to better the lives of the school children, teachers and their families.
Following the amendment of the forum’s Constitution, a new Executive Committee was elected, and Mondli Khoza took on the role of chairperson from being deputy chairperson.
