Glass bottle campaign launched to help curb shack fires

Please donate your glass bottles to help save lives this winter

Charlies SuperSpar, together with Endumeni Municipality Disaster Management and the Northern Natal Courier this week launched the Child Safety Awareness Campaign. The campaign is aimed at curbing incidents of house fires that seem to claim the most lives in winter around Endumeni. The campaign started with the collection of empty glass jars in the Charlies SuperSpar parking lot. The jars will be distributed to communities most vulnerable to house fires caused by falling candles. These jars make it safer to use candles for lighting, as the candle is placed inside the jar, which contains a portion of sand to stabilise the candle.
