Luke (Nontobeko) Ntombela has triumphed.
Luke and her team, Team Robbie won the Clash of the Choirs 2014.
Not only have they won but were also named the country’s best new amateur choir during the nerve wrecking finale on Sunday evening, July 5.
The choir won voters’ hearts with Lucky Dube’s all time favourite I’ve Got You Babe.
The choir walked away with the R750 000, with R250 000 going to Ikhwezi Welfare Center and R50 000 to the choir. With a glowing smile reaching Luke’s ears she tells that with her share of the prize money she is going to build her music career.
“Despite the competition being tough, it was very exciting, and I must say if it weren’t for the voters support our team would not have won,” said Luke.
She thanks God for bringing her through the competition, and allowing her to showcase her talent
She would also like to thank her family for the continuous support especially her father Mandla Ntombela for teaching her how to embrace her talent, as well as everyone who voted for her team.
As part of the prize was a recording deal with Sony, boiling over with excitement Luke tells that she and her team have worked with Zwai Bala and many others in studio. Luke said: “Choirmaster Robbie Malinga taught me how to be humble.”
She says she loves how passionate he is about music.
“I cannot thank voters enough for their support shown towards Team Robbie,” said Luke.
