According to nearby workers who witnessed the death of the young woman who was hit by a train earlier today at around 1pm the woman made no attempt to get out of the way of the train.

The train repeatedly blew its horn to warn the woman that it was coming.

“I cannot believe she did not know it was going to hit her,” a worker who asked not to be named told the Ladysmith Gazette.

No reason has been given why the young woman was walking on the tracks at that time of the day. Family and friends are baffled why she would have been there.

The woman died from her injuries at the Ladysmith Provincial Hospital.

Police have confirmed an inquest into the young woman’s death will be held.
