10 things you didn’t know about Raymond Oosthuizen

At the Newcastle Advertiser, we have come to know that everybody loves Raymond. Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about Newcastle’s favourite Senior Provincial Inspector:

1. “People always ask me why my surname is ‘Oosthuizen’. My mother is a beautiful African lady and my father is white, that’s why my surname is Oosthuizen. I’m proud of my parents and where I come from; I am a first generation coloured.”

2. “I am a diehard Barcelona supporter. I saw them play live in South Africa in 2006; it was the experience of a lifetime.”

3. “I’d love to be a Secret Millionaire. It pains me that I am not in the financial position that would allow me to help others as much as they do.”

4. “If I had the money, I would buy a silver Ferrari F430 Spider, but I’m very happy with the car I’m driving now.”

5. “I was at boarding school for three years. I went to Haythorne Secondary School in Pietermaritzburg.”

6. “I enjoy hunting. I love taking the dogs out to hunt for rabbits and buck. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten around to it lately.”

7. “I’m somewhat of a sport fanatic. I love rugby and pride myself in being a Western Province supporter.”
