The pedestrian died instantly, witnesses said

A seemingly inebriated man was run over and killed on Karelandman Street at about 7.45pm yesterday, Friday, opposite Jeff’s Service Station.

Witnesses said the man had walked into the road, which at that time was fairly busy with customers driving in and out of the fast food court.

The first car narrowly missed him but the second vehicle struck him.  He died instantly.  Police and ambulance personnel were soon on the scene.

But for the man, it was too late.  Police have warned against drinking and walking – especially over the holiday season.
