Swarm of bees mar a children’s play
A bee hive hidden behind a dog's kennel resulted in six people being stung.
Earlier today, December 6, six people and two dogs were stung by a swarm of bees in Langley Street, Pioneer Park.
Three of the people stung were children.
It is believed the children had been playing outside and had not seen a bee hive by their dog’s kennel.
It is speculated the bees grew agitated through the children’s activities and attacked them, as well as three adults and the two dogs.
No serious injuries were sustained.
“All patients were assessed and treated on scene, but there was no need for hospitalization,” said Jan-Henk van Vuuren from ER24, who added it was fortunate that none of the people had allergies towards bees.
