‘Total blackout’ a hoax – cold water as load shedding resumes
Eskom has confirmed that rumours of a total blackout yesterday were false

According to a Tweet by Eskom, rumours of a total blackout yesterday were false.
Eskom implemented country wide rotational load shedding stage 2 at 6am. Stage 3 to commence from 8am – 10pm due to loss of additional units

Eskom maintains that stage three load shedding is underway.
Lindile Zincume, SED of the Electrical Department for the Newcastle Municipality, confirmed that geysers would be switched off between 8pm and 10pm to alleviate strain.
The same is true for this evening, as load shedding will again be necessary.
Other parts of Northern KwaZulu-Natal are currently without power of any kind, as load shedding takes hold.
