Crooks want to steal your motorcycle?

It is suspected that the motorcycles are pushed away from the premises

Ladysmith police have noticed a sudden spate of motorcycle thefts over the last two weeks.

At this stage, the number of cases reported is relatively low, but theft of this type of vehicle is uncommon in Ladysmith and police therefore wish to make the community aware of the situation so that further thefts can be prevented.

Motorcycle owners are asked to be vigilant and make a special attempt to secure their bikes as far as possible.

In one incident, an automated gate was removed from its track to gain entry to the premises. The motorcycle was then stolen from the garage. If you have an automated gate, install a device that prevents the gate from being lifted off its tracks.

It is suspected that the motorcycles are pushed away from the premises.

Be on the lookout for people lurking around neighbourhoods and ensure that you are not followed home on your motorcycle.

Report suspicious activity to the police.
