Blame apartheid for load shedding says President Zuma
"The problem is the energy was structured racially to serve a particular race, not the majority," said President Zuma.
The African National Congress has inherited energy problems from the previous regime which had only provided electricity to the white minority said President Jacob Zuma.
During a speech at the Young Communist League congress in Cape Town on Friday, President Zuma blamed the apartheid government for the nation’s current electricity problems.
This according to a report by the South African Press Association.
“The problem is the energy was structured racially to serve a particular race, not the majority,” said President Zuma.
He also claimed government was taking action to address the energy situation. He mentioned that the development of the Medupi and Kusile power stations was being accelerated in order to bring them on to the grid.
During his speech, President Zuma outlined that 11 million households now have access to electricity, double the number in 1994.
