
The Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT) made two arrests on Wednesday after following up on information about drugs being sold in the CBD.
First of all, they spotted a person in Lyell Street who was acting suspiciously. The man was searched and police found four mandrax tablets. The 36-year-old was arrested.
Shortly afterwards, the officers spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle in the CBD. Upon searching the vehicle, they found four mandrax tablets in the possession of the 24-year-old occupant. He too was arrested.
Both suspects are set to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (January 16) on charges of the possession of mandrax.
The street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be about R800.
