An unlicensed firearm used to commit the attempted murder was also recovered with unlicensed ammunition

Bongani Isaac Nyathi has been arrested and charged for attempted murder, which he allegedly committed in Bhekuzulu, Drycott last Wednesday. At about 8pm on the day, a report of an attempted murder was received by police. After a search later that day, police arrested the suspect.

“An unlicensed firearm used to commit the attempted murder was also recovered with unlicensed ammunition. The suspect appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on January 8,” commented police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela. He added that the Cluster Commander has commended the good work done by the police officers. “We hope that this will send a message to those who do not abide by the law that their days are numbered,” concluded the captain.
