Arrested for mandrax and ammunition

The street value of the mandrax is estimated to be in the region of R600

A suspect was arrested for possession of mandrax and unlicensed ammunition on Thursday night by Ladysmith Dog (K9) Unit and Ekuvukeni police officers.

The officers were following up on information concerning the sale of mandrax, which led them to a house in the Ekuvukeni area.

Inside the house, police found five whole mandrax tablets and two half tablets.

They also seized an unlicensed 9mm round and an unlicensed R1 rifle round, along with cash, laptops and cell-phones.

The street value of the mandrax is estimated to be in the region of R600.

A 36-year-old suspect was arrested and appeared  in the Ekuvukeni Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
