
Burgled while sleeping
Property valued at R8 900 was stolen from a home on Ndumeni Street where the owner and his sister were sleeping. The burglars, who gained entry through a window, made off with the goods from the Glencoe family units on Ndumeni Street. The owner of the house and his sister were asleep when burglars gained entry via a window and stole a flat screen plasma 54cm, LG dvd and a sub woofer. It was only in the morning when the owner realised that the items were missing. Police are investigating.
Inmate found with drugs
An inmate at Glencoe Prison has been found in possession of the drug ‘whoonga’. A warder searched a prisoner who had visitors and found that he placed 37 ‘straws’ of the drug in a Vaseline lotion bottle. The matter was reported to the Glencoe SAPS and the prisoner promptly charged.
Pump station broken into
The Glencoe municipal pump station on Mbhele Street was broken into and electrical cabling and panelling stolen. No arrests have been made. Copper wiring, valued at R2 000, was stolen from a scrapyard in the industrial area as was an electric grinder valued at R700. The padlock was broken on the gate to gain entry into the workshop. The office was also broken into. No arrests have been made and police are investigating
Car stripped of mags, tyres
An Audi A4 2.0 TDI was stripped of its mag wheels and tyres after the owner had left it overnight at a house on West Street. The owner, from Empangeni, had left the car at the house on January 9. When he returned on January 11, he found his vehicle had been placed on bricks. No arrests have been made.
