Police investigations have resulted in four stolen vehicles being recovered over the past week.
The Ladysmith Vehicle Investigation Section (VIS) received information about possible stolen vehicles in the Sahlumbe area of Weenen on Saturday, February 7. On arrival in the area, they found three vehicles that had been ‘stripped’ of their parts and left abandoned.
A thorough search of the vehicles established that one of them, a Toyota Hiace, had been stolen in Osizweni, Newcastle, earlier this month. A second vehicle, a Mazda Etude, was established to have been stolen in Osizweni during January. Another Toyota Hiace is still being checked to establish ownership.
Ladysmith VIS officers were ‘on the go’ again on Tuesday, February 10. This time, they went to the Msinga area, where they recovered a Toyota Hiace which had been stolen the night before in Ezakheni D-Section. This vehicle was also ‘stripped’.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and police are continuing their investigation into the theft of vehicles and parts.
