A former Ladysmith policeman who was arrested for recently impersonating a police officer has had all charges against him withdrawn.
Faim Khan voluntarily handed himself over to police when he realised Ladysmith detectives were hunting for him in connection with a case of theft by false pretences.
He appeared for the second charge in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Thursday last week.
The state withdrew charges against him after the complainant refused to continue with the case. “I am relieved to have my name cleared once again,” said a delighted Faim.
This is the second case where he has appeared in court and the charges have been withdrawn.
Faim, a former constable at Ladysmith police station, has always professed his innocence. “I was incredibly surprised when charges were laid against me in the first place,” he told the Ladysmith Gazette.
