Burglars caught in the act

Two suspects were found hiding in the ceiling

A search using police dogs saw the Ladysmith K9 Unit arresting two suspects on Thursday after an alarm was activated at a house in Chisty Place.

Ladysmith police were initially alerted by a local security company that the alarm had gone off and that the suspects were believed to still be on the property.

K9 officers conducted a thorough search of the house using police dogs and two suspects were found hiding in the ceiling. Aged 21 and 26, they were arrested and face charges of housebreaking. The burglars were apprehended before they had an opportunity to steal anything from the house.

They appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Police are investigating the possibility that the suspects may be involved in other housebreaking and theft cases in the Ladysmith area.
