A man who was dumped in the Bushmans River and left for dead has opened attempted murder charges against the men who allegedly threw him into the river last Sunday, March 15. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso reported that at about 11pm the man was passing Hlangana Restaurant when he spotted four suspicious looking males who were carrying suspected stolen goods.

“When the suspects saw the man, two of them started chasing him. He ran away but they caught him at the Bushman’s River bridge where they assaulted him, threw him into the river and left him there to die,” commented Lt Col Mabaso.

The man stayed concealed until he realised that the men had left, he then swam to safety.

“The victim knew one of the assailants and went to the police station and reported the matter. A case of attempted murder was opened.
The investigation began and this resulted in two suspects aged 19 and 22 being arrested,” added Lt Col Mabaso.
