The owner of four suspected stolen goats is currently being traced after Ladysmith police found the animals and arrested two suspects on Wednesday last week.
Ladysmith Visible Policing officers were carrying out Crime Prevention activities in the Limit Hill area at about 2am when they spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle. As police approached, the passenger suddenly bolted into nearby veld.
The vehicle was searched and police found four goats suspected to have been stolen. The driver was arrested and his vehicle seized as evidence.
Later the same day, the Ladysmith Stock Theft Unit traced and arrested the second suspect.
The two suspects, aged 23 and 28, appeared briefly in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of being in possession of suspected stolen stock.
The goats are suspected to have been stolen from the Peacetown area, and the whereabouts of their owner is currently being traced.
