New fencing for Burnside Cemetery

Plans for the repairs of the old storeroom, as well as the hiring of a caretaker at Burnside Cemetery, are also in the pipeline.

Fences have finally been erected around the much maligned Burnside Cemetery in Glencoe.
Though the new fencing is yet to be completed it brings much relief to residents who were once up in arms over the dire conditions at the cemetery.
These pitfalls included; littering, rampant vandalism, long grass, and no care takers, as well as the lack of adequate fencing.
According to Assistant Waste Manager, Patrick Ndlovu, “phase one of the fencing for Burnside fencing has been completed.
The second phase will commence after the new budget has been issued and could begin by late September”.
Mr Ndlovu further explained, ‘phase two will include the completion of the fencing ‘.
Meanwhile, Sibongile Cemetery is also receiving much needed fencing.
Plans for the repairs of the old storeroom, as well as the hiring of a caretaker at Burnside Cemetery, are also in the pipeline.
