4 arrests for possession of dagga

The 4 were charged with possession of dagga and appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on Thursday

Ezakheni police made four arrests for possession of drugs while conducting crime prevention activities in the area on Wednesday last week.

The arrests were made in the Machibini area along Helpmekaar Road.

In the first arrest, a taxi was stopped and one of the passengers was found to be in possession of a bag of dagga weighing in at around 0.506kg. The suspect, aged 35, was arrested.

The second arrest followed shortly afterwards when a second taxi was stopped. A passenger, aged 51, was arrested after she was found in possession of a bag of dagga weighing the same as in the first arrest, namely 0.506kg.

The third and fourth suspects were also arrested while travelling in a taxi. They were each found in possession of a bag of dagga weighing 0.338kg. The suspects were aged 46 and 42.

The 4 were charged with possession of dagga and appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the matter was finalised after the four paid an admission of guilt fine.

The estimated street value of the drugs is between R1500 and R2000.
