On Friday, April 10, Winterton Police Station detectives arrested two suspects aged 25 and 28 for house robbery and attempted murder, which occurred at Imani Farm in Winterton. It is alleged that on February 8, a 47-year-old male was asleep in his house when the suspects forced open the burglar guards.
They took a laptop, cell phone, wallet and an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim tried to wake-up but he was assaulted by the suspects with an unknown object. They fled the scene on foot. A case of house robbery was reported at Winterton Police Station.
Winterton detectives worked tirelessly and tracked down the suspects. The first suspect was arrested in Loskop where he was hiding and he led the members to his accomplice in Winterton. Members recovered a laptop and a cell phone that was stolen during the robbery.
Both suspects were charged for house robbery and attempted murder. They appeared in the Colenso Magistrates Court on Monday, April 13.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded Winterton detectives for the sterling work of arresting the suspects and recovering of the stolen property. “We believe that our members will thoroughly investigate this case and secure a good conviction,” she said.
