R.T.I. officer probed in bribe allegations

During the meeting the man recorded the conversation and later reported the offence to the Police.

Allegations of bribery have been levelled against the Road Traffic Inspectorate (R.T.I) recently.
This was after a man was caught speeding at 114 km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Dundee/Vryheid road. He was stopped by a traffic official who was going to issue him with a traffic fine.
The traffic official had a sudden change of heart and asked the man what he can give him instead of a traffic fine.
The man played along and called his wife to arrange a payment of R1 000.
The deal was made and they agreed to meet at a later stage. During the meeting the man recorded the conversation and later reported the offence to the Police.
A case of bribery has been opened and investigations are underway.
