Michaelis Schule – Singing students achieve accolades

ON Friday, November 13, we hosted our annual ABC Schützenfest.

This is an exciting day for the Grade R class as they get to spend a few hours in the Grade 1 class, just to get a taste of what’s to come. The day ended off with a short concert in the hall performed by the Grade 1’s. This year the Grade R’s were entertained with the story of Sleeping Beauty.

The Grade 2 class also had their role to play as they modelled the various school outfits that the Grade R parents will need to purchase for the coming year. Well done to Mrs Lilje and all children who made this day a success. Have a good rest these holidays, Grade R’s. We are looking forward to welcoming you all into big school next year!

Lantern Evening: What a lovely evening it was! Tuesday, November 24, saw our playground patterned with colourful picnic blankets, camping chairs, picnic baskets filled with delicious treats, moms, dads, grannies, grandpas and children! Every-one had gathered here to be part of our Lantern Evening.

Some scrumptious treats were enjoyed and then everyone joined in to sing Christmas Carols. The evening concluded with the children parading their beautifully made lanterns, this is a German tradition called Laternenumzug. We look forward to hosting this event again next year as it was a wonderful coming together of families, ending in shining lights of hope for the future!

Kaino’s Singing Studio Year End Function: Vaun Hellberg and Taryn Bezuidenhout took part in the Kainos Singing Studio’s year end function at the AGS Church this past weekend. The theme this year was Broadway. Vaun sang ‘I just can’t wait to be King’ from the Lion King and Taryn, ‘I need a Hero.’

After the singing was done, it was time for the prize giving. Taryn was awarded a gold certificate and came in the junior top 10. Vaun was awarded a silver certificate and shared The Most Improved Pupil of the Year Award with another pupil. Congratulations, Taryn and Vaun. You have done us proud!
